hi

MARS Story

I first met Thirty Seconds to Mars on MTV Portugal, June 2007. I had just graduated from junior high (9th grade) and I was about to go to the 10th grade, which it would, later, be a massive change in my life. The Kill was a massive hit at the time so the video was always playing at that channel.

Well, I was not the type of person who liked that type of music because the only thing I knew was Beyoncé, Britney and that stuff..that was all I was listening. I also listened to Linkin Park, but I was not a huge lover. So, my first impression of The Kill was not very positive. I hated the whole song and everytime I saw that video, I changed to other channel because I couldn’t stand it.

But something in my head forced me to listen and see The Kill from begginning to the very last second and after I understand the lyrics, I started to get really into the band.

After that I started to research about the band itself, because I really liked them at that point and I wanted to know more and more. I saw a lot of interviews and read a lot of stuff, voted for the ‘07 EMA’s, which they won, such a happy moment. (a little OCD at the time, got a little fangirl-ish for some time :x).

Around December, I discovered that they were coming to Lisbon (Feb. 15th 2008) and I did everything I could to go…

But I failed. Was one of the worst days I ever had.

On March 2008, they announced that they were coming again to Lisbon. This time I got to see and get an autograph from the three. Was one of the best days I’ve ever had so far!

On December 8th 2009, This is War was released and there I was, on the mall, buying it.

(by this time, I already had the other two cd’s as well).

On July 2010, the band announced that they were coming again to Portugal! Bought my ticket two days after that because I knew it would be sold out, or really near to that. The 16th of December was magical.

On 2011, the guys announced that they we’re coming to Optimus Alive Festival. I got to go to 3 of the 4 days. But talking about “their” day…

I got there and the Portuguese Echelon was way pulled of the stage, as the other margin of the crowd. And we just stood there. Waiting. Going back and forth for God-knows-what. After 7,5/8 hours standing on my feet, without knowing anything from the organisation, MARS got to play. Was totally worth it :)

So, it’s been an amazing journey so far. I’m loving these years as an ECHELON. 5 and counting :)
